Some features of the  PWS ratcheting castle nut and buffer tube are a lightweight mil-spec diameter tube made from extruded 7075 aluminum with an extended lip for the bolt carrier group. The 6-position tube with engraved position numbers is also fitted with lightning cuts that help remove debris. The ratcheting feature of the nut ensures a solid foundation for what is one of the weakest points of the design.
